Effie powers through the tunnel Welcome to the Friends of Thorpe Light Railway, an organisation set up to restore and operate the 15 inch gaugeĀ Thorpe Light Railway.
The pages here outline the railways history, events and allow you to get involved.

By becoming a friend of the Thorpe Light Railway, you will be entitled to free event day travel, the chance to get involved on site and receive a twice-yearly newsletter detailing activities and progress at the railway.

Please note that the railway is a private location and access is only allowed on event days via the Friends of Thorpe Light Railway.

The railway is located South of Whorlton Village near Barnard Castle over the chain bridge. The post code is DL12 8XD
